Horror in the Windy City RPG Setting for Whispers in the Dark

Created by Matt Corley

Horror in the Windy City brings the excitement, intrigue, and beautiful chaos of the time period to your table using the 5e rules you already know as adapted by the acclaimed Whispers in the Dark RPG. The beautifully illustrated 180+ page book is a fully realized campaign sourcebook covering Chicago in the latter half of the 19th century. There are new rules, backgrounds, a new alignment system, NPCs, scenarios, and more. In short, it’s everything you’ll need to take your party of investigators to Chicago. It will be up to them to find their way out. Extensive Worldbuilding. Horror in the Windy City is written to provide the GM with everything needed to play multiple campaigns in its borders. The major events, and the forces behind them, are explored with scenario hooks and evocative details for the GM present to their players. Chicago’s historic neighborhoods and locations: Englewood, Lake Forest, St Charles, The Cabbage Path, the Stockyards, Wrigley Field, Lake Michigan, and others are presented with scenario hooks, and NPCs of note. The Dreamlands' incursion into Chicago has had profound effects on the city. Particularly in areas of heightened emotions, tension, and violence. Find out what’s happened, and continues to happen, behind the veil of sleep. No story of Chicago is complete without an in-depth look at the public clubs, secret cabals, gangs, and gangsters running the city. From the public faces, to the puppeteers pulling the strings, dozens of new NPCs and organizations are detailed.

Invitation Only - a Whispers in the Dark Scenario
almost 4 years ago – Wed, May 27, 2020 at 10:30:25 PM

Invitation Only - the next chapter in The Crow Man saga

Inviation Only is the sequel to The Crow Man (found in the Whispers in the Dark QS), and takes the investigators further behind the veil of New Orleans' supernatural community. Written by myself and Matt Young (of NBC's Blindspot).

The Crow Man has been stopped, for now, but the forces behind his  summoning are at large. A plea for help from an ally brings the PCs back  into the thick of things whether they want to or not.

  • Word Count - 14,000
  • Time to Run - 2 sessions
  • An investigative scenario for up to 5 PCs of 3rd level
  • 7 new statblocks
  • New Rules on creating investigators of 2nd level and higher

On sale for $4.99 (regularly $8.99) backers will get an additional 10% off of that by using this link to get it for $4.49 until June 30th: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?discount=99ea3d27ef

Whispers in the Dark QS PDF & POD redemption codes will be going out soon! (End of day tomorrow at the latest). Keep an eye on your spam folder for links from DriveThruRPG.

Thanks,

Matt

Victor Emory (WIP) by Thomas Boatwright

Moving forward

  • KS funds have been collected and should be released to me in a few business days.
  • Printer proofs for The Devil's City have been ordered from DTRPG (POD folks) and I'll be ordering them from Mixam (US backers that pledged for the physical book) this weekend too.
  • 90% of surveys are back which is fantastic.

Those are solid milestones and I'm very happy with our timelines. Work continues with Horror in the Windy City too. Chris, Celeste, Grant, and I chugging away and still on track for everything. If you haven't gotten your survey it's probably in your spam folder and you can request another one here:
